I'd like to try my hand at an ocean race on the Oregon coast in August. It'll be going through surf and downwind. Any advice out there on what I should be doing to prepare myself? Any coaches in the Pacific NW region?

I had so much fun on Big Bear Lake, Mission Bay and Lake Havasu last year. I thought the withdrawals from SUP were going to kill me, but I found some time to read tips, etc. and can't wait to try them! Will get back to Big Bear soon!
