Rick Thomas
Biographical Note: (profile page)
Andre Niemeyer got hooked to stand up paddle boarding just as the sport was making its way outside of Hawaii and into mainland US. One day, while surfing at his home break in Southern California, his friend Rick Thomas once again asked Niemeyer if he wanted to try stand up paddling. Having already had his share of waves on a regular surfboard and a bit frustrated with the mediocre surfing conditions of the day, he decided to give it a shot, even though he wasn't quite sure about that. But once on the board, Niemeyer was surprised by the difficulty of paddle surfing, a challenge which drove him to embrace the sport wholeheartedly and which forever changed his life.
