GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado - Even though the surfing events had to be cancelled due to very low water levels, the Rocky Mountain Surf Festival Stand Up Paddle Championships on July 9th and 10th, 2012 at Glenwood Springs Whitewater park were still a complete hit!
The downriver, SUPcross and CircleSUP were thrilling and brought lots of fun! Dan Gavere came out the champion in all 3 events and won the overall King of the River" title for the fourth year in a row. Nikki Gregg was also stellar and won 2 of the 3 races to take the overall women's title. It took a great deal of skill to maneuver throught the rapids while standing on the SUP boards but after 2 days of events $3000 was distributed to the various winners and everyone from the professionals to the youth left feeing once again that "Glenwood Springs is truly a Rocky Mountain stand up paddling paradise".
